The Outer Banks beaches have been dealing with a large amount of unexpected flooding, and in many cases, areas that usually don’t flood. The cleanup efforts are well underway. Reports of 3-6′ of flooding were reported on the Northern Beaches all the way down to Hatteras Island.

Many supplies & food items are in need. Food Pantries are in need of canned chicken, canned tuna, canned soup, bread, canned fruit, snacks (granola/fruit bars), peanut butter, jelly, chili with beans and anything you can think of that people can easily heat up. If you are in need of food, please makes sure you bring proof of Dare County residency and a photo ID. Below are a few places that are taking donations and helping out the community:

They can arrange drop-offs and pick-ups from Northern Beaches. They are accepting donations for Rodanthe. They are in need of non-perishable food items, canned goods, dried goods, baby needs, cleanup items (gloves, bleach, trash bags, rakes, scrub brushes). Lifeline Outreach can also accept checks and cash deductible donations which benefits 100% of the amount to the community.
